WILLIAMS SHOOTS FOR THE STARS!

Williams has gone all out with an ambitious launch for its 2025 car. The event at Silverstone to reveal the FW 47 shows just how far Williams has come from a disastrous situation 12 months ago when it was barely ready for testing. This time it’s so on top that not only they performed a full show launch with a camouflage livery but also tested it on track with Sainz and Albon behind the wheel. This kicks off a new era for the team in a punchy way as the team will officially be entering as Atlassian Williams racing, finding it’s first title-sponser after 2019. A multi-million dollar deal deemed as the biggest union in Williams Racing history by Team Principal James Vowles.
The team went big with a proper broadcast and show even if it was peppered with a little bit too much lightweight filler content at time (like Sainz and Albon guessing whether the other sleeps naked or not). The energy in the factory and garage resonate the feeling of change and new era and hopefully this converts to actual progress on track as well.
CHAMPIONS RETURN ON TRACK!

This week also saw the reigning Champions reveal their 2025 car upgraded from front to back in its bid to win both titles. This year the McLaren MCL 39 broke cover to Silverstone Shakedown in a one-off papaya orange and black camouflage livery. McLaren combined the unveiling with a filming day in which both Norris and Piastri shared driving duties over a maximum of 200km. We witnessed the actual MCL 39 for the first time and heard from both drivers and Andrea Stella. Stella revealed that pretty much every fundamental component of the layout has been subject to some innovation (including auto- race start and anti-position loss mechanism in first lap) for a direct marginal performance gain or to open up more opportunities elsewhere.
WHY 2025 CAR LAUNCHES CAN BE WEIRD?

Motorsport world is ready to commence this year with a bang as for the first time all the teams will be launching their livery together at 75th year special O2 event. This comes with a big stake (AND THE TEAM STAKE), if not done right, this can turn out to be an extremely underwhelming experience for the audience as most of the teams have also their own car reveals scheduled around the event. As a result, all the unveiling of 2025 cars that you see before the O2 event comes with a one-off camouflage rivalry whereas many teams yet to unveil their car will launch their livery on their 2024 car at the O2 event. In a clear attempt to draw more eyeballs and money in this fast growing world of motorsport, the attempt can prove a big success or leave fans with a sour taste before the start of what fans anticipate to be the best season in a long time.
BACK TO BACK ACTION!

Formula E stormed into Jeddah with electrifying intensity, treating fans to a back-to-back spectacle of nail-biting racing. With Maximilian Guenther leading the pack away from pole with a chaotic lap 1 of Round 3. Nico Mueller and Antonio Felix Da Costa collided with the German being shot up and ultimately having to DNF. This race also marked the Debut of Pit Boost opening up possibilities for many drivers with Hughes, Barnard and Da Costa all being the first drivers to take pit boost (petition to rename it Chess-racing).
Round 4 begun with a record sitter: The Youngest Ever Formula E Pole Sitter - Taylor Barnard. He set the record at just 20 years and 259 days old. Battles erupted up and down the grid with drivers going toe-to-toe. Di Grassi went for an EXTREMELY early attack mode which saw him overtaking driver after driver and ending up leading the race after Rowland took over the lead from the McLaren of Barnard. Positions remained as they were as Rowland won the E-Prix after being denied win the previous day.
BURIRAM TEST!

Moto GP set off with thrilling Buriram test this week with 3 round of motorsport action providing a taste for what t is going to shape out like. Top on Day 1 and top on Day 2, that’s a clean sweep for Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) in the Buriram Test. Davide Tardozzi also confirmed that the only 2025 parts to be on the bike for Round 1 are electronics and suspension update- meaning they’ve decided to stay with engine, chassis and aero from 2024, for now at least on most counts. Engine means they’re now locked in until the end of 2026.
Meanwhile after a challenging pre-season in some ways, Maverick Viñales seems to be settling in at Red Bull KTM Tech3 and moved into the top ten a key step setting a testament that they are closer than viewers anticipate. If Yamaha stole the headlines in Sepang, Honda did so in Buriram. Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) took P6 with the fastest lap any Honda has ever done at Buriram. We can likely expect more from Yamaha though as the time attacks rolls out at the race weekend.
