In the latest breaking news from the motorsport world, Aston Martin Lagonda, the iconic British carmaker known for outfitting James Bond, has announced the sale of its stake in the Aston Martin Aramco racing team as part of its effort to shore up its struggling balance sheet. The move sees Aston Martin offload its 4.6% stake in the team, meaning it never held majority control to begin with. We know how Lawrence Stroll is the big boss over at Aston Martin, calling every shot, and he better be since Lance Stroll’s legendary career in making LITERALLY depends on it. Even with the team’s deteriorating performance on track, the team has been soaring high financially, and it will be interesting to see if the jumbled picture of shareholders over at Aston Martin could finally pose a risk to Lance Stroll’s seat on the grid.

Now that the chaotic first half of the 2025 season has come to an end, the picture of the rookie grid has started to become clearer (as the Alpine rookies have started to fall back from the race), and it is safe to say that we haven’t seen such a promising set of rookies for a long time. These many rookies on the grid is a rare event as is, and for all of them to be having their turns to show a glimpse of their potential is sure to be no less than a Halley’s comet. Esteban Ocon has been one of the most underrated drivers of the 2025 grid, and his performance has criminally gone under the radar. From being shown the exit door from Alpine right before the last race of the season, 2025 wasn’t expected to be this much of a turnaround for Ocon, especially when we witnessed a substantial fall-off in his performance by the end of the season against his very able teammate, Pierre Gasly. A race winner and Alpine’s best finish in the 2024 season, Ocon seems to have re-vitalised in the Haas (at least someone is finding his form back in red) environment, and his silent points haul has placed him right in the top 10 of the points table. There is still room for consistent performance, which can put him in contention each week, and it will be interesting to see what the right upgrade from the team can do to his performance for the remainder of the season.

Much like many fierce warriors that have found their way into the Lion’s den, Liam Lawson was no different, as in he needed a good amount of therapy to get over the nightmare that is being Max Verstappen’s teammate. The first two sessions in which he participated as a Red Bull driver couldn’t have turned out any worse for him. It has been a struggle for Liam ever since then, even after he found himself against a rookie teammate in Racing Bulls (little did he know then it was a promotion). However, the recent trends have been nothing but positive for Liam. With back-to-back point finishes, he finds himself only 2 points behind his outstanding rookie teammate, Isack Hadjar. Not many of the drivers who have gotten chewed up by Max recovered the same way, and it will be fascinating to see what more Liam can do in the second half of the season to make his footing even more solid in his first full year on the grid.
