WEEKEND BUILD-UP!

Motorsport racing returns to the legendary home of Ayrton Senna—a track known for its undulating terrain and unpredictable weather, defying even the best forecast technology. As the final stop in the triple-header, this weekend promised to be nothing short of drama, high-speed passes, and thrilling battles at every turn.

McLaren returned to the top in a packed first session before sprint qualifying, with Lando Norris leading the charge and eager to close in on Max Verstappen’s lead. An unwell Kevin Magnussen stepped aside, giving promising rookie Oliver Bearman a chance. With rain forecast for the weekend, fans braced for an exciting showdown under tricky conditions.

SPRINT DAY!

After an hour of action on São Paulo's freshly surfaced track, we moved into the highly anticipated Sprint Qualifying. The session unfolded without many surprises, as Oscar Piastri clinched Sprint Pole , closely followed by Lando Norris, securing the expected 1-2 front-row lockout for McLaren, which confirms a Lando win (obviously), or does it? (wink wink) Their unbeatable pace set the tone for an intense grid line-up.

At the start, Piastri surged ahead of Norris while Verstappen chased Leclerc for third. Nearing the end of the 24-lap sprint, McLaren swapped places, giving Norris maximum points for his championship bid. Though Verstappen initially finished third, a five-second penalty for a Virtual Safety Car violation dropped him to fourth, promoting Leclerc to P3. Sainz took fifth, followed by Russell, Gasly, and Perez, who fought his way to eighth for Red Bull - equivalent of fixing a spelling error to prove your participation in the group project.

QUALI DAY!

After a delayed and ultimately cancelled qualifying session on Saturday due to torrential rain because there might be a secret vow that has been undertaken to never use the extreme wets, fans were treated to an exciting “Super Sunday,” featuring both qualifying and the race. Uncertainty lingered over whether standard qualifying could go ahead, with discussions that FP1 or Sprint Qualifying results might determine the grid for Sunday’s showdown.

Qualifying felt like a movie, with unpredictable Brazilian weather and a slick new track causing chaos. Both Williams cars, Sainz's Ferrari, and both Aston Martins spun out in the wet, triggering several red flags. Shockingly, Lewis was eliminated in Q1, and both Red Bulls in Q2. In a dramatic finale, Lando claimed pole, joined by George and Yuki on the front row, while Max started from P17 after a grid penalty. With the championship on the line, the stage was set for a thrilling showdown.

RACE DAY!

Just four hours after an intense qualifying session, we were poised for what promised to be one of the most chaotic races of the season. With Albon sidelined due to irreparable damage, the race began with an aborted start when Lance Stroll (the only thing more meme-worthy than the FIA during this weekend) casually drifted into the gravel trap, ending his race before it even began. Additionally, Lando was noted for an infraction during the formation lap of the aborted start.

Max made impressive progress at the start of the race, gaining five positions from his original spot. Lando lost the lead to Russell going into Turn One (YEP, AGAIN), as forecasts predicted that the rain would intensify further into the race. The conditions proved treacherous, leading to a red flag and the eliminations of Colapinto, Sainz, and the disqualification of Hulkenberg. The red flag reset the race, resulting in an unusual top three of Ocon, Verstappen, and Gasly. 2018 turn 2 flashbacks anyone?

That was not to be. "Max Verstappen’s masterclass" echoed globally as he stormed from P17 to victory in the São Paulo rain. Thrilling fans with bold overtakes and a strategic stay-out, he claimed the lead by halfway, clocking 16 fastest laps to secure a historic win. The Brazilian Grand Prix ended with a stunning result as Alpine celebrated a double podium, with Ocon in P2 and Gasly in P3 (still buzzing in French). This triumph lifted Alpine to P6 in the constructors’ standings, earning them around $30 million—a well-deserved reward after a challenging season.
